Panthers Throw Last Minute Touchdown To Move Past Seahawks

The Carolina Panthers came into Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with an undefeated record and playing away in a loud CenturyLink Field that is home to a notorious loud Seahawks fan base. With the Seahawks dominating the third quarter with a 23-14 lead, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton & Co. were not through yet with the game and started a fourth quarter rally that would be remembered as one of the best in Panthers history.

On each of the final two possessions, both were 80-yard drives that saw the first drive have a one-yard touchdown by Panther running back Jonathan Stewart to bring the score to only 23-20 because of Panther kicker Graham Gano missing the extra point. The big play of the game came with the next drive being finalized by a 26-yard throw by Newton to tight end Greg Olsen for a touchdown with 32 seconds left in the game. This eventually led to a Panthers victory leaving them still undefeated and leaving Seattle stunned after the touchdown and now having a 2-4 record for the season.

“We’re doing what we expected to do,” Newton said. “It comes as no surprise to us. It was going to be a big game. We were going to expect a lot from so many players.” The Panthers will continue to defend their undefeated record when they are home against the Philadelphia Eagles for next week’s Sunday Night Football at 8:30 p.m.
