Padres’ Luis Arraez Carted Off Field Following Scary Collision In Win Against Astros

A scary moment occurred early during the San Diego Padres’ 3-2 win over the Houston Astros when Padres infielder Luis Arraez collided with Astros second baseman Mauricio Dubon while running out a hit.

Christian Walker fielded the ball and tossed it to Dubon, who was covering first base. Arraez and Dubon collided once Walker tossed the ball, sending both players down to the ground.

It was clear almost immediately that something wasn’t right with Arraez.

Arraez was unable to get back to his feet and had to be carted off the field. He gave a thumbs up to the fans in Houston as he left the game.

Shortly after the incident, it was announced that Arraez was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

He was released from the hospital shortly after and joined the team in the clubhouse after the game. He’s going to stay in Houston for an extra night.

Arraez, 28, is part of a Padres team that sits at the top of the NL West at 16-6. The three-time All-Star is batting .287 with three home runs and seven RBIs.

Arraez made a statement on his Instagram following the incident, letting his fans know that he’s feeling better.

“Thankfully, there is nothing to worry about,” Arraez said on Instagram. “I’m currently resting and plan to rejoin the team on Monday.”
