Packers Re-Sign Backup Guard Lane Taylor

The Green Bay Packers re-signed backup offensive lineman Lane Taylor for two years as part of a deal worth $4.15 million, with $600,000 guaranteed, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Taylor has played in 26 regular-season and four playoff games in his first two seasons with the Packers. Green Bay signed Taylor as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State in May 2013. The contracts of starting Packers guards Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang are set to expire next year.

The Packers will also hold on to safety Chris Banjo, an exclusive rights free agent, who received a one-year, $675,000 qualifying offer, according to his agent, Ron Slavin.

Banjo emerged as the de facto captain of the special teams during the regular season, finishing tied for the lead in tackles and serving as a mentor to younger players.

Banjo played in all 16 regular-season games and made one start at safety. He finished the year with 16 tackles and a pass breakup on defense.
