Novak Djokovic ‘Grateful’ After Australian Judge Orders He Be Admitted To Country

Following a back and forth with the Australian government over his Covid-19 vaccination status and eligibility to compete in the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic is “pleased and grateful” that his appeal to enter the country was successful and he wants to “stay and try to compete” in the event.

Judge Anthony Kelly ixnayed the visa cancellation and ordered the Australian government to pay legal costs and release the top-ranked tennis player from detention within half an hour.

However, Minister for Immigration Alex Hawke is still deciding whether to exercise a personal power of cancellation of Djokovic’s visa, which could drag on for many days.
