Nick Sirianni Doesn’t Want To ‘Overcorrect’ To Eagles Finish In 2023

“I think what’s important is that we don’t overcorrect. There’s a danger in overcorrecting in my eyes. You have to adapt. You have to evolve,” Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni told Jimmy Kempski on his mindset coming into the 2024 season.

Sirianni’s team finished the 2023 season 1-6 culminating in a blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card, after beginning the campaign 10-1.

Even though he does not want to overreact to the way his team ended the year, after winning the NFC in 2022, Siranni made changes. He brought in Kellen Moore to run the offense a former OC with the Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles offense stagnated to end the year, averaging 19 points in their final seven games, a far cry from the dominant display Jalen Hurts and company put forth under former OC Shane Steichen, who left to become the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts two off-seasons ago.

While the offense remains a concern, the Eagles did not address any needs in the NFL Draft. Sirianni’s team took a defensive player in the first three rounds before taking Clemson RB Will Shipley with pick #127 in the fourth round. The team lost C Jason Kelce who retired at the end of the season, but picked up former New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley in free agency with a three-year $37.5 million deal.

While Sirianni may not be concerned with his job security, members of the media are beginning to speculate. Colin Cowherd on his TV show The Herd suggested that the Eagles may look at six-time Super Bowl winning coach Bill Belichick in 2025 if Philadelphia stumbles in the postseason for the second year in a row.

According to Hard Rock Bet, Philadelphia is the odds on favorite to win the NFC East with -125 odds.
