Saban recently spoke on a podcast where he mentioned that he was happy for Mac.

When Jones was with the Patriots under Bill Belichick, his numbers dwindled from personal bests as a rookie.

“He hasn’t been in great circumstances,” Saban said in the podcast. Remembering the years Jones has had with the Patriots, as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones signed a two-year contract with the 49ers during the offseason to be the backup to Brock Purdy, who is injured.

The next game for the 49ers is against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 12.
