SLIDESHOW: 10 Highest-Paid Athletes
Suh has been named first-team All-Pro three times since being drafted second overall out of Nebraska by the Detroit Lions in 2010. Suh logged 51½ sacks in the last seven seasons, behind only Geno Atkins for the most by a defensive tackle in that time span.
The defensive tackle also ranks seventh among all NFL players with 26 batted passes and first in his position with 6,773 snaps over the last eight seasons. After five years with the Lions, Suh joined the Miami Dolphins on a six-year, $114 million pact that at that point made him the highest-paid defensive player in the league. However, Suh only played in Miami for three seasons.
Suh will now join a Rams unit that boasts Aaron Donald, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
The New York Jets were reportedly prepared to offer Suh the most money, although they ultimately rescinded their offer.
Suh has garnered a reputation as a dirty player. He has drawn a league-leading 74 penalties since he entered the NFL in 2010. His only missed time was the result of a two-game suspension in 2011 for roughing up then-Green Bay Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith.
Other players the Rams — who intercepted 18 passes last season — have recently acquired in free agency include All-Pro cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters.
