NBA DFS Plays: Wednesday, May 5

With several high-profile players already ruled out tonight, let’s take a look at the top options at each position on DraftKings for tonight’s big nine-game slate. The games with the highest implied point totals are the Wizards-Bucks, Kings-Pacers and Grizzlies-Timberwolves matchups. Those three games all are expected to see at least 238 total points and are also expected to be close. The Bucks and Grizzlies are each three-point favorites while the Pacers are 6.5-point favorites. Heavily target those three contests if possible. Lineups lock at 7:00 p.m. EST. Now let’s get down to business and look at the best option at each position on DraftKings.

Point Guard

Russell Westbrook, Washington Wizards (DK: $11,000) @ MIL

Westbrook is coming off an absolutely monster performance. In Monday’s 154-141 victory over the Pacers, Westbrook posted 14 points, 24 assists, 21 rebounds, one steal and one block for a whopping 81.8 fantasy points. One could argue that Westbrook is playing the best basketball of his career, as he has helped the Wizards leapfrog into playoff contention in the Eastern Conference. Not only did Westbrook haul in a career-high 21 boards, but the 24 assists matched his career high. Other than Wilt Chamberlain, Westbrook is now the only player in NBA history to tally 20 rebounds and 20 assists in the same game. He is one assist away from five straight triple doubles, and even if he failed to produce any more points, assists or rebounds in the Wizards’ last few games, he would still finish the season with an averaged triple double. In what is expected to be the highest-scoring contest on tonight’s slate (241.5 points), Westbrook is going to go bananas against the Bucks.

Other Options: Trae Young, Ja Morant, Jordan Clarkson

Shooting Guard

Facundo Campazzo, Denver Nuggets (DK: $4,600) vs. NYK

Although the Knicks rank fourth in defensive efficiency and dead-last in offensive tempo, I love the idea of playing Campazzo tonight. Denver’s backcourt is incredibly banged up. The Nuggets are currently without Jamal Murray, Monte Morris, Will Barton and P.J. Dozier. That means that Campazzo is going to log plenty of minutes, and should have lots of opportunities to score and dish out assists to big man Nikola Jokic. In Monday night’s loss to the Lakers, the rookie guard posted eight points, eight assists, four rebounds and a season-high five steals across 37 minutes. He finished with 34.5 fantasy points, though just a week ago, he tallied 48.5 fantasy points against the Pelicans. Although it is unlikely to see huge scoring numbers from Campazzo, he should continue to contribute across the box score. He will exceed expectations tonight for the shorthanded Nuggets.

Other Options: Caris Levert, Buddy Hield, R.J. Hampton

Small Forward

Terence Davis, Sacramento Kings (DK: $4,400) @ IND

Davis is another value play I like a lot tonight considering the state of Sacramento’s backcourt. Although De’Aaron Fox is considered questionable, I don’t expect him to suit up tonight. If he does, Davis probably isn’t the best option. However, considering Fox will most likely miss tonight’s game, along with Tyrese Haliburton and Harrison Barnes, Davis will get way more opportunities than he has been getting for most of the season. Davis has managed to produce 21-plus fantasy points in each of his last three outings, including 28.8 fantasy points over 31 minutes of action Monday night against the Thunder. Davis doesn’t need to do a lot to provide a solid return on your investment, and with all of the Kings’ injuries, he should get plenty of chances to score. He is a great bargain so that you can get one of the top studs in your lineup such as Westbrook, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo or Domantas Sabonis.

Other Options: Michael Porter Jr., Anthony Edwards, Bojan Bogdanovic

Power Forward

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics (DK: $10,100) @ ORL

Tatum is going to absolutely dominate a Magic squad that struggles on the defensive side of the ball. With Jaylen Brown out of the lineup, Tatum will be the primary scorer for the Celtics. With Brown off the court, Tatum has seen a 35.3 % usage rate, and has tallied 1.39 fantasy points per minute. Just two games ago, Tatum dropped 60 points in Boston’s overtime victory over the Spurs. He finished with a ridiculous 82 fantasy points. Over his last three outings, the forward is averaging 42.7 points per game. Add in his contributions in rebounds, assists and steals, and he could very well go for 50-plus fantasy points tonight. The only concern for me is the fact that the Celtics could run the Magic out of the building, considering they are 11-point favorites. That being said, Cole Anthony has Orlando playing some of their best basketball of the season. I don’t foresee a blowout, which means Tatum will be asked to shoulder a very heavy load.

Other Options: Tobias Harris, Kevin Love, Marvin Bagley

Center

Damontis Sabonis, Indiana Pacers (DK: $10,600) vs. SAC

Sabonis has been playing absolutely lights out with Myles Turner still sidelined. In the Pacers’ Monday night loss to the Wizards, Sabonis was one assist shy of producing back-to-back triple doubles. He finished the night with 32 points, 19 boards and nine assists for 74.3 fantasy points. Over his last two contests, he is averaging 75.05 fantasy points per game. Against a Kings team that plays with one of the fastest paces in the league, Sabonis is going to be featured in tons of Indiana’s possessions. He is the team’s go-to option, and he could even be the primary playmaker if the questionable Malcolm Brogdon is unable to suit up. Expect another triple-double kind of night from the big man.

Other Options: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jonas Valanciunas, Jarrett Allen
