Micah Parsons Set To Become Highest-Paid Non-QB, Waiting on Agent Approval

The Dallas Cowboys have offered Micah Parsons a contract that would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

Parsons and owner Jerry Jones have reached an agreement that would increase his contract beyond those of Myles Garrett and Ja’Marr Chase.

Garrett leads all NFL defensive players with an annual salary of $40 million, while Chase’s $40.25 million per year is the highest for any non-quarterback.

The Cowboys negotiated the deal without involving Parsons’ agent, and he won’t sign without David Mulugheta’s approval. There have been no discussions between Mulugheta and the team since the NFL Scouting Combine.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones stood by the team’s approach to direct negotiations with players, mentioning past instances with Tony Romo, DeMarcus Lawrence, Jason Witten, and Zack Martin – all without their agents.

“We talk to agents all the time,” Jones said. “Dak [Prescott] was one of those guys who wanted us when it was business, to talk to his agent. We had Zack Martin. We’ve had Jason Witten. We’ve had Tony Romo. We’ve had DeMarcus Lawrence that like to come up and talk about their business and certainly we’ve got an open door policy when it comes to that, but we also have respect for our representatives as well. But Micah likes to talk about his business.”
