Thursday night at around 1:18 a.m. Kendrick Norton‘s Ford F250 collided with Maserati and concrete barrier, warranting a trip to the hospital for Norton where doctors amputated his left arm.
Norton’s agent, Malki Kawa, broke the unfortunate news through Twitter Thursday morning. “With sadness, I can confirm that Kendrick Norton was in a car accident last night and suffered multiple injuries, including the amputation of his arm,” stated Kawa. “We ask that you continue to pray for him. His family also asks that the public respect Kendrick’s privacy.”
The driver behind the Maserati, Jessie Pena, sustained no injuries. The crash’s cause remains unknown as no criminal charges have been filled as of yet. “For unknown reasons, the Ford F250 collided into a concrete barrier wall and subsequently overturned coming to final rest on its roof,” explained highway patrol member Lt. Alex Camacho. The crash occurred near the Miami International Airport.
Norton played at the University of Miami before the Carolina Panthers drafted him with a seventh round pick in 2018. After spending nearly all season as a practice squad player, the Miami Dolphins eventually claimed him just prior to last season’s ending. Norton’s former coach, Ron Rivera, issued a tweet showing his thoughts and concerns for Norton as well.
