McDavid And Eberle Combine For 5 Goals To Lead Oilers Past Maple Leafs 5-2

When the top pick in the 2015 NHL Draft has been on the ice, he has been absolutely incredible. Despite missing 37 games with a broken clavicle, Connor McDavid still ranks 11th among all rookies in points, and is only 5 points behind 5th ranked Shayne Gostisbehere.

McDavid’s talent was on full display as he chalked up 2 goals and also tallied an assist on each of Jordan Eberle‘s three goals for a 5 point night.  McDavid and Eberle teamed up to give the Oilers all the offense they needed with 5 goals between them in the 5-2 victory over Toronto.

McDavid’s scored on his first shot of the game and just under 3 and a half minutes in as he was led to a breakaway by a pass from Benoit Pouliot, McDavid finished it by putting on a nice right to left deke on Maple Leafs’ goalie, Jonathan Bernier for the first of the 7 combined.

Eberle put up 2 goals in the second to extend  the lead to 3-1 before Toronto’s Jake Gardiner scored with 15 seconds left in the second to make it a one goal game at 3-2. McDavid would add one more goal with just under 6 minutes left to pretty much seal the game and assist to Eberle for an empty net goal with only 54 seconds left in the game for his McDavid’s fifth point.
