LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLORIDA - AUGUST 21: Paul George (13) of the LA Clippers drives against the Dallas Mavericks during the first quarter in Game Three of the Western Conference First Round during the 2020 NBA Playoffs at AdventHealth Arena at ESPN Wide World Of Sports Complex on August 21, 2020 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
It was a bizarre Sunday in the NBA that saw various upsets and surprising blowouts. One of the major upsets was the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers. The game ended up with a surprising 51-point loss for the Clippers.
The Clippers did not have a good time on Sunday after suffering a franchise-worst loss. The Clippers came into the game without superstar Kawhi Leonard (mouth laceration) and Marcus Morris (knee soreness). The Mavericks were without superstar Kristaps Porzingis. It was expected that the Clippers would keep it competitive as they were lead by their other star player Paul George. It was supposed to be a game where George would lead the Clippers, but that did not happen.
George struggled to find form, as did his fellow teammates. Los Angeles was unable to score in the first 10 minutes of the game it was George who was the lone Clipper to score in 10 minutes. By the end of the first half, Dallas led 77-27. The 50 point lead came as a shock to various NBA fans as there was a firestorm of tweets.

During the second half, it would be the same story as Dallas continued to score, and Los Angeles struggled. George finished the game with a team-high 15 points and scoring four field goals in 13 attempts. The All-Star missed all of his six attempts from the three-point territory. The Clippers as a whole shot 34.2% from the field and 12.1% from three-point range.
Following the game, the 30-year-old George took responsibility for the embarrassing loss. “We got our butts kicked today,” he said. The six-time All-Star took the loss as a lesson to learn from saying, “we’ll take away what we need to take away, and onto the next one.”
