Major Fire At Denver Broncos’ Mile High Stadium Extinguished

Most times when a sports team is said to be “on fire” it’s a good thing. That’s not the case, however, when you’re talking in the literal sense about the team’s stadium.

Empower Field at Mile High Stadium, the Denver Broncos’ home, was ablaze Thursday afternoon, with videos flooding social media. The scene showed smoke billowing out of the complex, with some shots suggesting the flames came from the suite level.

#DenverFireDepartment crews are extinguishing a fire at Mile high stadium, 1701 Bryant,” the department wrote on Twitter. “Unknown cause at this time, but fire affected has affected the suite are and the third level seating area.”

“Fire now under control at Mile high Stadium,” it added. “Sprinklers attempted to stop the fire, but firefighters were needed to complete extinguishment. Heavy fire & smoke was found on our arrival media briefing to take place at 3:00 p.m. on east side of stadium.”
