Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana announced Wednesday that he has signed a contract extension with the club until 2020.

The deal, believed to be worth between £110,000 and £150,000 ($137,000-$187,000) per week, is effective from the summer and includes an option for an extra year.

“I’m very proud and feel quite humbled by the show of faith from the club and the manager in particular,” Lallana told Liverpool’s website. “This is a really good place to be at the moment and, for a player who wants to be part of something special, I can’t think of a better club to commit your future to.”

The 28-year-old Englishman joined Liverpool from Southampton for £25 million ($31 million) in July 2014 and has scored 16 goals in 80 Premier League games.

“We have a world-class manager and coaching staff,” Lallana added.

Manager Jurgen Klopp praised Lallana, calling him a “natural leader.”

“What I think is most exciting about this news is that this player is only just arriving at his peak,” Klopp said.

Liverpool also recently announced plans to move their first-team training base from Melwood to Kirkby. The club’s academy is already based at Kirkby, and it is seeking approval for £50m of work to bring together the senior and junior teams on one location. Liverpool have trained at Melwood since the 1950s.

The plan also includes new and improved fields and sports facilities for the area, as well as the redevelopment of local infrastructure.

Midfielder Philippe Coutinho, 24, signed a five-year contract with Liverpool in January worth approximately £150,000 per week, which makes him the highest-paid player at the team.
