LeBron James Reveals How He Thinks He Would Fare As A Teammate Of Michael Jordan

LeBron James and Michael Jordan are arguably the two most compared basketball players in NBA history, and fans have long debated as to who would win between the two NBA legends if they were to play against each other in their respective primes. For James, however, when he envisions sharing the court with Jordan, he views it as if he were Jordan’s teammate instead of his opponent.

In a video posted on Uninterrupted’s YouTube channel on Monday, James said that the way he plays the game would mesh perfectly with that of Air Jordan. “Me personally, the way I play the game – team first – I feel like my best assets work perfectly with Mike,” James said. “Mike is an assassin. When it comes to playing the game of basketball, scoring the way he scored the ball, my ability to pass, my ability to read the game plays and plays and plays in advance.”

As a child, James idolized Jordan and the Bulls and although the two never shared the court in the NBA, the two did play together at Jordan’s annual camp at UC Santa Barbara after James was drafted in 2003. “We used to play around 9 p.m. The camp would end … and we would stay along with the college kids that he would invite. We would get a good-ass run in for about an hour, an hour 15. I was on the same team with MJ, and we didn’t lose a game.”

One of the biggest threads from ESPN’s The Last Dance which highlighted Jordan and the Chicago Bulls was Jordan as a teammate. Whether it be punching Steve Kerr in the face during a practice, or berating teammates like Scott Burell with various NSFW comments as a means to motivate him, Jordan would challenge his teammates in non-traditional ways, which James thinks he would be able to handle. “I love when a teammate comes to me and challenges me. When I was in Miami, D [Wade] used to come to me and be like, ‘All right, [No.] 6, let’s go.’ [Former Cavaliers coach Tyronn] Lue used to challenge me a lot when I was in Cleveland. He was like, ‘All right, Bron, what are you waiting for?’ I see that from Mike, and I feel like our games were a perfect correlation to be successful.”

Some people took these comments by James as him saying that he would rather be teammates with the greats of the game, instead of competing against them. On his Twitter account, James made sure to set the record straight.
