Lamar Jackson, the face of football for the Baltimore Ravens, has tested positive for COVID-19. He was therefore absent from training camp on Wednesday, and will most likely be out of future training camp sessions. This is the second time in eight months Jackson has tested positive for the virus.
Jackson is unvaccinated and had tested negative five straight days before this positive result. Running back Gus Edwards also received a positive test alongside Jackson. Both will be isolated for a minimum of 10 days.
Backup Trace McSorley is expected to get the majority of reps with Jackson currently out. “To me, whenever you have a problem or whenever something comes up like that, you embrace it and you almost kind of rejoice in it because it’s an opportunity to improve somewhere else,” Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh said of this new shift in preparation for the season.
“When hiccups like this happen, all you can do is rally around that guy. Send our prayers and send our support. Hopefully, he’ll be back very soon,” said Marquise Brown, Jackson’s most talented target at the wide receiver position.
