Lakers Land Big From Three-Point Line With 130-127 Win Over Thunder

The Los Angeles Lakers came away with yet another victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, winning 130-127. This now extends their win streak to six games. This is the Lakers (13-2) second win in four days over the Thunder (5-10).

The Lakers 3-point game proved to be the deciding factor in the win, along with Anthony Davis with two clutch trips to the free throw line and a big steal by LeBron James to seal the deal. The Lakers were 54.8% of 31 attempts from the three-point line. Davis ended the night with a game high 33 points, also tacking on 11 rebounds and seven assists. James put up 23 points, as well as 14 assists and six rebounds. Kentacious Caldwell-Pope and Danny Green had clutch performances as well, and alongside Davis, had at least four three-point makes.

The Thunder’s plan to limit Laker opportunities and reduce fast breaks turned out well, leaving the Thunder with a 67-66 lead heading into the locker room. The Lakers did come out hard in the second half putting up 28 points in the first five minutes of the third. A resilient Thunder offense kept the distance within five points, while attempting to slow down a hot Laker offense, who put up 40 points in the fourth quarter alone. Despite valiant efforts, the Thunder fell by three to a fierce Laker team.

James has had at least ten assists in the last seven games, the longest streak by a Laker player since Magic Johnson in the 1990-91 season.

The Thunder take on the Golden State Warriors (3-14) and the Portland Trailblazers (5-11) before Thanksgiving, hoping to come away with two big wins. The Lakers have the Memphis Grizzlies (5-9), the San Antonio Spurs (5-11), and the New Orleans Pelicans (6-9) to face before heading into the holiday. The Lakers hold the best record in the league right now with a two game lead over the Denver Nuggets.
