La Liga News: Refurbished FC Barcelona Score Four Past Villarreal

In their opening game, La Liga side FC Barcelona scored four goals to get past Villarreal at the Camp Nou.

Refurbished FC Barcelona looked fresh and competitive after a disappointing 2019/2020 season. The club totally dominated throughout the entire game.

FC Barcelona teenage star Ansu Fati opened the scoring for his side with a brilliant goal assisted by left-back Jordi Alba. Minutes later, Fati scored another screamer assisted by forward Philippe Coutinho.
Towards the end of the first half, FC Barcelona were awarded a penalty after Villarreal’s Gaspar fouled Fati in the penalty area. Lionel Messi took the shot and scored his first goal of this season’s competition.

Villarreal were completely disadvantaged when their defender Pau Torres scored an own goal. The defender shot the ball directly in his side’s goal after a cross from Messi that was initially meant to be for FC Barcelona’s midfielder Sergio Busquets.

In the second half, FC Barcelona did not dominate like they did in the first. However, the Culers managed to keep a clean sheet until the match ended.

So far, Ronald Koeman’s FC Barcelona looked promising even with the absence of their goalkeeping star Marc Andre Ter Stegen. Neto took Ter Stegen’s place after the German goalkeeper was ruled out for about three to four months due to injury.

FC Barcelona will look to win this season’s La Liga after their fierce rivals Real Madrid won the title last season. The club signed Miralem Pjanic from Juventus to strengthen their midfield. Reports claim that the club is expected to sign AFC Ajax’s right-back Sergino Dest and Olympique Lyonnais’ striker Memphis Depay.

In the upcoming La Liga matches, FC Barcelona will face Celta Vigo at the Balaidos on October 1, while Villarreal will face Deportivo at the Estadio de La Ceramica on September 30.
