L.A. Rams & Denver Broncos Decide To Cut Attendance At NFL Combine

Two NFL teams have decided to not attend the scouting combine this year, a move some think may become the wave of the future.

The Denver Broncos will keep their assistant coaches in Denver to watch film, something they believe will make better use of their time than to be in Indianapolis for the combine this year.

Coach Vic Fangio will attend in person, but thought his assistant coaches’ time would be better spent studying tape, as well as having access to combine private interviews via Fangio and the personnel staff.

The Los Angeles Rams will leave their offensive and defensive coordinators, Kevin O’Connell and Brandon Staley, in Los Angeles to implement new offensive and defensive schemes.

Rams’ coach Sean McVay will attend the opening days of the combine in order to fulfill his obligations to speak with the media, but will then return to Los Angeles to join his coordinators in implementing new systems.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that this could be the new trend in the NFL. Although the combine is still important, teams don’t have to send all of their representatives for the entire week.

The NFL combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from Feb. 23 to March 2.
