NASCAR has fined drivers Danica Patrick and Kyle Busch for behavioral violations both committed at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, on Sunday.
Patrick, 34, was fined $20,000 and put on probation for the next four races for going onto the track to confront Hendrick Motorsports No. 5 Chevrolet SS driver Kasey Kahne after he accidentally wrecked her in the Auto Club 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
NASCAR ruled that Patrick violated Sections 12-1; 10.4.2.1 a; 12.8 of the rulebook. The sanctioning committee enacted rules that forbade drivers from going on the track following the death of Kevin Ward Jr. in a sprint car race in 2014.
Busch, 30, was fined $10,000 and put on probation for the next four races for failing to meet his media obligations following the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Auto Club Speedway, a race which Busch lost on the last lap due to a blown tire. The No. 18 Toyota Camry Driver for Joe Gibbs Racing scolded NASCAR for not throwing a caution flag after this happened, and accused the sanctioning body of fixing races.
