Jose Altuve Reaches Agreement With Astros, Receives $125 Million Contract Extension

One of the best players in the MLB will be sticking around with the only team he has ever known.

Second baseman Jose Altuve signed a five-year, $125 million contract extension with the Houston Astros, per a press release from the team’s social media accounts. On X, the team released a detailed statement regarding Altuve and the deal he reached with them.

“In his first 12 seasons, he has established himself as a future Hall of Fame candidate and as one of the top three players in franchise history,” according to the post. In a following post, the Astros posted a picture of Altuve with the caption, “Jose Altuve will be an Astro for life.”

Altuve and the Astros are coming off another World Series appearance, losing to the Texas Rangers in seven games. Spring training began for Houston on February 7, where they play the Nationals in West Palm Beach, Florida.
