UFC superstar Jon Jones has been suspended from UFC matches since April because he was charged with felony hit-and-run charges for hitting a pregnant woman with his rented SUV and drove away when the incident happened. Jones luckily has been given a limited release that requires no jail time but probation for 18 months and 72 hours of community service speaking with children. UFC stripped him of his light heavyweight championship with Daniel Cormier winning it in a vacant championship match during UFC 187.
Cormier defended his title during the main event of UFC 192 against Alexander Gustafsson, in which he won in a split decision to retain his title. Jones, who watched the match on Saturday night, had some cheery words for Cormier on his Instagram page saying, “You showed some heart tonight, DC,” only to delete it immediately after.
Another Instagram post by Jones which was eventually deleted said, “I think I miss it. I don’t know.”
There is uncertainty on what this means if Jones were to come back and fight with Cormier. The two have fought in the past with Cormier losing to Jones during UFC 182 and both fighters seem open to fighting again for the title, with Cormier wanting to stay away from Jones home of New York and fighting in a neutral location.
