Jimmy Butler Leads Bulls To Win Over 76ers With 53 Points

Chicago Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler played a great game on Thursday night, as demonstrated by his scoring 53 points to help lead his team to a 115-111 overtime  victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, after trailing by 24 points.

Butler was able to match the highest scoring output of the year from any player: Golden State’s Stephen Curry’s 53-point game vs. the New Orleans Pelicans earlier this season. Butler was even able to get 25 free throws, and many of his shots were difficult ones to make.

“I was just shooting the ball,” Butler said. “I just kept being aggressive, taking the shots the defense was giving me.”

He also snagged 10 rebounds and six assists, and made 15 of 30 field goals and 21 of 25 free throws to help the Bulls break their three-game losing streak. He became the first Chicago player to score 50 points since Jamal Crawford in 2004.

Even Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg seemed very impressed. “That’s as good of a performance as I’ve seen,” Hoiberg said. “The guys hopped on his shoulders, and he carried us home. Play after play, it was an unbelievable performance.”

The Bulls (23-15) will next host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night, and the Sixers (4-37) will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night.
