Jets' QB Geno Smith (Image: NFL)
The problems for the New York Jets don’t end with results, as internal frustration started to show on the sidelines in their 28-25 loss to the previously winless Miami Dolphins.
Garrett Wilson appeared to take out his frustration on QB Geno Smith on the sideline.
Wilson and Smith both acted like the situation was not as big as the video showed. The NFL on ESPN’s X account posted the confrontation.
Wilson claimed the frustration wasn’t directed at the quarterback. “I don’t even think I was talking to Geno. I think we were both heated but not at each other at all. We were just disappointed with how we were playing up until that point.”

The video appeared to show Wilson facing Smith, but Smith wasn’t reacting to Wilson at the time. Smith said he didn’t recall the incident and that “I don’t think he was yelling at me.”
The Jets organization is undoubtedly struggling in all facets. Fans hardly trust the coaching staff, and the team hasn’t made the playoffs in over 15 years despite a plethora of early-round draft picks over that span.
The Jets still lead the Dolphins in the AFC East with two wins, but the Dolphins were one of New York’s best opportunities all year to put together strong performances against a team in a full rebuild.
Now, head coach Aaron Glenn is on the hot seat, but questions remain about whether a change at that position would even make a difference. The Jets have had six different head coaches since their last playoff appearance, and the cycle is starting to look repeatable.
Internal issues only hurt an organization, so the hope is that the two players were just in their own zone and nothing was directed at each other, but there was no doubt about the frustration, and it’s starting to show throughout the organization.
