On Friday, Adam Schefter reported that a New York Jets player had tested positive for COVID-19 Friday morning and that the team was being sent home until they could retest the player saying, “Jets’ training facility is shut down and the team is going virtual until they have the results of the test they are re-running on the player who tested positive this morning.”
It is unclear the current status of the Jets’ week five game against the Arizona Cardinals, who were unsure if they should fly across the country with the revelation of the test, but it appears like they will be making the trip. “All plans are the same until someone tells us to change,” Cardinals general manager Steve Keim told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. “So we’ll fly out [Friday] and … hopefully play on Sunday.”
Currently, several games are up in the air this week with the Titans COVID-19 outbreak as well as the Patriots positive tests, and with his news, the NFL seems like it is starting to show cracks. It would have to be much worse for the league to suspend play but if they can’t get a hold on this situation then they are on their way there.
