Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah inked a three-year deal with the team for up to $39 million, with $25 million guaranteed. The Browns solidified their future with their 2021 draft pick, as he had just a season left on his rookie contract.
JOK had a career year last season, eclipsing 100 tackles with 3.5 sacks in 2023. He steadily improved each season in the league and leads a Browns defense in 2024 that looks to return to the playoffs with a healthy quarterback under center.
After earning his new deal, JOK discussed his emotions about staying in Ohio.
“It feels like now I have an opportunity to respond to a lot of the different things that’s going on in my life and a lot of the different things that have been going on. It feels good to be locked into a place and have the place also respect you and give you honor as well.”

“There’s so many different things that can be thrown at you. So you have to be appreciative when you can be drafted to a team and then the team extends you more years. So, there’s always a sense of honor there.”
The Browns selected JOK in the second round of the 2021 draft, and analysts split on whether he would work out in the NFL. Scouts were concerned about his size and durability at the LB position, but he proved that his athleticism and football intelligence outweighed any drawbacks.
Cleveland led the NFL in total defense last season, giving up the fewest yards per game. However, the Houston Texans boat raced the Browns 45-14 in the Wild Card round, horrendously ending a surprise 11-6 season. According to Hard Rock Bet, the Browns are +600 to win the AFC North as Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow returns from injury, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are starting a new signal caller, making the division one of the hardest in the NFL.
