Jeff Hardy Admits He Was ‘Freaked Out’ When His Brother Matt Was Feuding With Edge

The 20-time tag team champions, the Hardy Boyz, offered a glimpse behind the curtain in a recent interview.

Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy were asked about times when they were genuinely worried for each other during their wrestling careers.

For Matt, the most worrisome moment he can recall was when Jeff attempted the legendary high-risk spear at TLC 2 on Edge. Timing was the biggest concern, according to Matt. Matt kept saying, “Please don’t land on your head, Jeff. Don’t land on your head.”

Everything has to align for a spot like this to go right, including the choreography, timing and trust. Jeff pulled off the move with no injuries, and it turned into one of the most legendary moments in wrestling history.

On the other hand, Jeff voiced his concern for his brother Matt when he feuded with the Rated-R Superstar Edge.

This feud was different than the other wrestling storylines because there was real-life tension between Matt and Edge. Jeff admitted he was “a little freaked out” that something could boil over and become real.

The real-life tension sparked when Edge had an affair with Matt’s longtime girlfriend and fellow wrestler, Lita. The affair occurred while Matt was off-screen and injured, and Edge was married at the time. WWE turned real-life beef into an on-screen storyline between the two Hall of Famers, which led to an all-time feud.
