The San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Jauan Jennings have agreed to a $3 million playing incentive to his contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The add-on could see the 28-year-old earn up to $10.5 million as he enters his final year of his contract. Jennings is expected to become a free agent next season after a long contract dispute with the 49ers this past summer.
Jennings made his return to practice on Monday after being sidelined with a calf injury since late July. Earlier that month, Schefter reported that Jennings requested a contract extension or a trade.
Those rumors were confirmed by team general manager John Lynch last week, but insisted both parties moved on and had no desire to trade the receiver.

“He asked for it and we’ve moved on,” Lynch said last week. “We’re not doing that. So, we’re moving forward.”
While the summer’s saga seems to be over, head coach Kyle Shanahan is looking forward to having his star receiver back on the field.
“It doesn’t feel like he’s been gone because he’s been around everyday, so we get to spend time with him,” he said. “Having him back on the practice field Monday was awesome. We love J.J. When he is not there, he is greatly missed. The way he carries himself, the energy he plays with and how good of a player he is makes everyone very excited.”
Jennings recorded 975 receiving yards in the 2024 season: the second highest on the 49ers. He also tallied a career high six touchdowns. Only tight end George Kittle posted more receiving yards last season, putting up 1,106 yards and 78 receptions.
