Jake Paul Accuses Floyd Mayweather Of ‘Ambush,’ Video Could Suggest Otherwise

Jake Paul ran away from an altercation with boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. after a Miami Heat game, accusing Mayweather of ambushing him with a group of at least 50 people. Other reports of the incident contradict this, however.

Mayweather fought Paul’s brother, Logan Paul, in June 2021. Jake stole Mayweather’s hat during a press conference leading up to the event, which exacerbated tensions and reportedly led to someone from Mayweather’s entourage giving the YouTuber a black eye backstage. The two have maintained a rivalry ever since.

“I’m leaving the Miami Heat game, and Floyd Mayweather and 50 dudes pull up out of nowhere, out of like some side alley waiting for me outside of the stadium,” Paul said in a video shortly after the altercation. “And they’re like, ‘So what’s up? So what’s all that talk now?’ I’m like, ‘First of all, what did I say to you, Floyd? I just took your hat and you’re still mad about it. Come on, bro. And then 50 dudes literally start surrounding me to try and jump me. I’m out that [expletive], okay. Do you want to run it one on one? No problem. But I’m not dumb, okay.”

Footage of the altercation between Paul and Mayweather didn’t show the level of intensity that Paul described. Though some members of Mayweather’s group yelled at Paul and one individual seemed to reach for him as he ran away, there did not appear to be any attack attempted on the former Disney Channel actor.

A fight between Mayweather and Paul has been a source of speculation since the two began their viral feud, with both men doing their part to instigate conflict. After six straight victories to begin his boxing career, Paul lost his first fight against Tommy Fury last month. He now plans to make his MMA debut with the Professional Fighters League later this year.
