After beating the Miami Hurricanes 27-21 in the National Championship last week, the Indiana Hoosiers will be without both Mendoza brothers next season.
Hoosiers backup quarterback Alberto Mendoza will be playing elsewhere next season after putting his name into the transfer portal following their big win. This comes as no surprise, with Indiana already dipping into the portal and getting former TCU Horned Frogs quarterback, Josh Hoover, to be under center next season.
Alberto saw limited action this season, backing up his Heisman-winning brother, Fernando Mendoza. The red-shirt freshman completed 18/24 passes for 286 passing yards and five touchdowns. He added 190 rushing yards on just 13 attempts, showcasing his dual-threat ability similarly to his brother.
Alberto will be looking to start for a team next season and will be hoping for the same success as Fernando, who transferred from the University of California to Indiana University.
