Top Indian cricket player Mohammad Shami was charged with domestic abuse by police in his native country on Friday after his wife filed a complaint.
On Tuesday, Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan posted on her Facebook page a series of text messages her 28-year-old husband has allegedly sent to other women over the last four years.
Jahan also claims Shami’s brother and the rest of his family also tortured her mentally and physically.
“He tortured me physically and mentally over and over again. Shami assaulted me after returning from the South Africa tour,” Jahan told reporters Friday.

Fast bowler Shami — who has played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Daredevils of the Indian Premier League — denied his wife’s allegations earlier this week.
“What is being said about my personal life is completely false,” he wrote on Twitter on Wednesday in his native Indian dialect.
“It´s definitely a part of a big conspiracy against me. This is just an attempt to defame me.”
On Thursday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India dropped Shami from a list of contracted players for the national team.
The charges against Shami — who has represented India 87 times in all formats of cricket since 2012, when he won the Premier League title with KKR — carry prison terms of ten years or more.
A BCCI supervising committee said the allegations against Shami have put them in a difficult position.
