Holly Holm Defeated Ronda Rousey With A Knockout

Ultimate Fighting Championship star Ronda Rousey was undefeated in her career going into UFC’S 193 main event fight that took place in Melbourne, Australia, against fellow UFC fighter Holly Holm.

With Holm dominating Rousey throughout the first round with lots of punches to the head and chasing her around, it was a left kick to the head 59 seconds into the second round that saw Rousey hit the floor. After several blows to the head, the match was called to Holm’s favor and thus seeing a new women’s bantamweight champion in Holm and Rousey receiving her first loss in her UFC career. While Holm was seen dancing around the ring in celebration, Rousey was slow to get up and had to be tended to by medical staff.

Later that night, it was announced that Rousey was treated for a concussion as well as facial cuts at a nearby hospital. But that is not stopping her from ever stepping back in the ring, according to a post on her Instagram page, in which she shared her thoughts on the fight as well as the future.

“She was transported (to hospital) because she got knocked out,” UFC president Dana White said after the fight. “She’s completely bummed out and depressed.” A rematch is due for both fighters and White is not ruling it out but said it could take time to plan and find the right venue for it. “We don’t make fights the night of the fight, but the rematch makes a lot of sense,” he said. “The rematch is what the people want to see.”
