NEW YORK, NY - NOVEMBER 28: Russell Westbrook #0 of the Oklahoma City Thunder dribbles up court against the New York Knicks during the first half at Madison Square Garden on November 28, 2016 in New York City.
Former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas has given Russell Westbrook his blessing to wear number zero. Arenas said, “‘0’ is all [you] Brodie,” Arenas wrote. “It will be an honor.”
Arenas played with the Wizards from 2003-2010, where he broke out as an all-star for the team. His status as a major talent in Washington and his jersey number of zero earned him the nickname “Agent Zero.” Arenas left the Wizards in 2010 after being traded to the Orlando Magic. Since then, no player has worn jersey number zero after his departure.
However, that could change after the Wizards acquired Russell Westbrook in a blockbuster trade with the Houston Rockets. It was reported on Tuesday that the Wizards traded their star point guard John Wall and a first-round pick to Houston for Westbrook.
Westbrook, a former MVP has worn number zero his entire NBA career and all of his college career. When the Wizards announced him as a member, he was photographed with the number four instead of zero.
