Giants Release Odell Beckham Jr.

New York Giants legend and fan favorite Odell Beckham Jr. has been released by the team after trying to revamp his career, where he had the biggest impact.

Unfortunately, Beckham didn’t have the impact he’d hoped for, and even with opportunities to return to a bigger role, he failed to impress the team or make his mark.

With Malik Nabers’ injury uncertain before the season and WR Calvin Austin ruled out for the year with a torn ACL, other receivers like Braxton Berrios and Beckham had a chance to use their second-team snaps in training camp to prove their worth on the roster. Even with all of this, the Giants have decided to let Beckham go.

Nabers’ return in week one most likely didn’t play a role in this decision, but Berrios has received solid playing time, and perhaps Beckham, who played 19 snaps with no catches, was one open spot away from a bigger role.

The short second stint in New York is not the end, according to the receiver, who texted NFL insider Josina Anderson, “One door closes, another door opens. I promise you that,” in a post on X.

Beckham did not play in the NFL in the 2025 season after being cut by the Dolphins in 2024 in what was officially a “mutual parting of ways.” The WR who was drafted by the Giants out of LSU in 2014 is now 33 years old, and this is an age that is not unheard of for being able to perform in the NFL, but Beckham has also not had a 1,000-yard season since 2019 and had only 55 yards in his 2024 nine-game campaign with the Dolphins.

Beckham seems to believe in himself and that another team will take a chance on him, but his time with the Giants is most likely done for good.
