Get The Gear: The NHL’s Best Jerseys

While every sport has some great looking jerseys, no league consistently looks as good as the NHL; it’s hard to compete with hockey’s mixture of historic sweaters and bold colors with one, powerful logo at the middle of the chest. And with winter finally in full swing, here are some of the best NHL jerseys whether you’re watching a game or playing one of your own on the pond.

Detroit Red Wings Jersey

While home jerseys usually get the nod, the Red Wings away sweater has the edge here thanks to its red sleeves and white body. And it’s hard to argue with the classic winged wheel; its clean and classic without being too simple.

And on the ice, the Red Wings are just as good. They’ve made the playoffs for 24 straight seasons and are one of the NHL’s model franchises.

Philadelphia Flyers Jersey

Things might not be going too well in Philadelphia, but their jersey remains in the top tier.

Orange jerseys always look nice and the Flyers’ sweater, complete with white highlights and black piping, is no exception. There’s a reason the team has barely changed their look since joining the league in the 1960s: they simply look good.

Washington Capitals Jersey

The standard Caps jerseys are frankly dull; one is red, one is white and they both feature the team’s wordmark with a hockey stick forming the ‘L’. Their alternate jersey, however, takes that basic look and improves on it.

The jersey is based on the team’s original look, which they used from 1974 to the 1990s, and the addition of lighter blue makes a world of difference. While their standard white sweater has some red and navy down the sides, red and blue stars on a white sweater make it no doubt that the Caps call Washington D.C. home.
