Get The Gear: MLB’s All-Star Jerseys, Hats And Memorabilia

The MLB All-Star game is just around the corner, with the anticipated matchup happening on July 14. Between the awesome home run derby, the festivities and the actual game, it is, without a doubt, the most entertaining one in professional sports.

And that is mainly due to the fact that the outcome actually matters. The winning side garners home field advantage for their representative in the World Series: for instance, if the American League won, then a team like the Yankees would receive home field advantage in the World Series. And as most athletes can attest to, a home crowd goes a long way in important games.

Now, the All-Star game is returning to Cincinnati for the first time in 27 years. And as a result, the jerseys and memorabilia sport a cool red, black and white design, which is a lot simpler and, dare I say, more eye-pleasing than past iterations like Citi Field’s blinding blue and orange.

On top of this, some of the memorabilia feature cool designs that represent the Reds’ famous Mr. Redlegs mascot, who sports a vintage handlebar mustache that curls on both ends.

Best of all, the specialty hats sport a very distinct vintage look to commemorate Cincinnati’s famous baseball history. Each hat contains the teams’ normal logos and colors, but also has two distinct horizontal stripes, which hark back to Mr. Redlegs and the organizations’ retro feel. Simply, it is a modern take on old fashion.

So whether you want to support your team’s league or to celebrate the return of the All-Star game to Cincinnati — the MLB is even letting Pete Rose come back — there are plenty of cool items to purchase at the MLB Shop.
