Former NFL Star Antonio Brown Extradited From Dubai, Set To Stand Trail In Florida For Attempted Murder

U.S. Marshals extradited former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown from Dubai on Thursday to face an attempted murder charge, according to the Miami Police Department.

The 37-year-old is being held in New Jersey and will soon be transferred to a Miami jail. The extradition concluded a four-month search for Brown after being issued an arrest warrant by Miami police in June.

In May 2024, Brown filed for bankruptcy after earning $80 million in the NFL.

Brown is facing a second-degree attempted murder charge. He is expected to appear in court after he is transferred to South Florida.

On May 17, a video appeared to show the former wide receiver in a scuffle during a boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross. The video appeared to show Brown holding a pistol. No arrests were made, and no injuries were suffered.

The former NFL player avoided capture for months before authorities arrested him in the United Arab Emirates.

“He was taunting us on social media,” a spokesman for the Marshals Service said. “We identified he was in Dubai, we let the Marshalls know.”

Brown has faced multiple legal issues in recent years. In 2019, the New England Patriots cut the wide receiver after one game following sexual assault accusations made by his former trainer. A settlement was later reached between the two parties in a civil case.

Less than a year later, Brown was ordered to serve two years of probation and 100 hours of community service after pleading no contest to burglary and battery charges from a moving company incident. In addition, Brown was required to attend an anger management program and a psychological evaluation.

In 2023, Brown was arrested several times on accusations of failing to pay child support.
