Floyd Mayweather To Fight Logan Paul June 5

It is hard to believe that Logan Paul would even consider stepping into the ring with perhaps the greatest boxer of our time. However, Paul is scheduled to compete in an exhibition fight against Hall of Fame boxer Floyd Mayweather on June 5, according to The Athletic. The location for the fight has yet to be determined.

The YouTube sensation was initially set to fight Mayweather back in February in a bout that could be watched through the streaming platform Fanmio. However, that fight was postponed. According to The Athletic, the new fight is set to stream on Showtime pay per view.

Mayweather’s last official fight was against UFC legend Conor McGregor back in 2007. Mayweather made easy work of McGregor, winning the 10-round bout by technical knockout. The Hall of Fame boxer retired from professional fighting with a 50-0 record and 27 knockouts. Meanwhile, Paul has only fought one professional bout in his career, losing to British rapper KSI.

In order to provide a bit of a handicap for Paul, he will be allowed to weigh in at 190 pounds while Mayweather’s maximum weight can only be 160 pounds.

The sports of boxing has changed drastically because of YouTube. As Sports Illustrated writer Jon Wertheim wrote, “The Mayweather-Paul tale of the tape—comically ill-matched as it might be—is also the tale of the entire sport.”

He continued, “Boxing, the most throwback of sports, has been thoroughly transformed, if not outright resurrected, by YouTube.”

Boxing is less of a sport as it is now entertainment. Regardless, don’t be surprised if Mayweather has his fun with Paul in the ring.
