Flight Carrying Pittsburgh Steelers Makes Emergency Landing In Kansas City

A plane carrying the Pittsburgh Steelers football team was diverted towards Kansas City due to issues with the aircraft that led to an emergency landing.

Burt Lauten, the senior director of communications for the Pittsburgh Steelers, issued a statement about the landing. “Our team charter plane was unexpectedly diverted to Kansas City early this morning on our way back to Pittsburgh following our game in Las Vegas,” Lauten posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Everyone on the plane is safe, and we are making necessary plans to arrive back in Pittsburgh later today.”

The Steelers were on their way home after a 23-18 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders when pilots reported a “right engine low oil pressure warning” to air traffic controllers before ultimately diverting to the airport. The landing was reported as an emergency, and the pilots made an unscheduled landing at Kansas City International Airport early Monday morning at 3:55 a.m.

With Sunday night’s victory, the Steelers are currently 2-1 and face the Houston Texans on October 1. The team has been given Monday off by head coach Mike Tomlin.
