The first batch of tickets for the much-anticipated Aug. 26 bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor went on sale Monday.
The first group of tickets was released at 1 p.m. EST on Monday to all the lucky fans who received a code from Ticketmaster’s Fan Verified program, whose purpose is to block brokers from purchasing all the tickets early. The codes don’t guarantee tickets, although some fans who received the codes sold them on eBay for as much as $200.
Although it was initially thought that Ticketmaster would start selling to the general public at 3 p.m. EST, a UFC spokesperson told ESPN that should any tickets be left after Monday, sales would open to the general public on Tuesday.
Ticket prices were previously announced at $500, $1,500, $2,500, $3,500, $5,000, $7,500 and $10,000. These prices do not include the 8.5 percent Ticketmaster service fee. Ticketmaster stated on its website that its rule dictate that tickets purchased on Monday need to be picked up at the box office. The official number of tickets sold on Ticketmaster on Monday was not released by the platform’s officials.

Before the tickets officially went on sale, the lowest price speculators posted on resale website Vivid Seats was $2,611, and the lowest price posted on StubHub was $2,950.
The fight will be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and is expected to bring in record ticket revenues that surpass even the $72.2 million in revenue from Mayweather’s fight against Manny Pacquiao in May 2015, which was held at MGM Arena. That venue is 3,000 seats smaller than T-Mobile Arena.
Even UFC president Dana White had to buy his own tickets for the Mayweather-McGregor fight, as he explained in an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto this week. White explained how the process for purchasing tickets for this fight will be changed with respect to the process for buying tickets for Mayweather-Pacquiao in 2015 so as to avoid technical difficulties.
