Eagles Beat Patriots 41-33 For First Super Bowl (LII) Title: Highlights, Game Stats [VIDEO]

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in a close, thrilling Super Bowl LII matchup in Minneapolis on Sunday night to earn their first national title in the modern era.

The game was close nearly all night long, and was not fully decided until time expired: in the dying seconds, Tom Brady threw a Hail Mary pass almost the entire length of the field. However, no player on the field was able to catch the ball that seemed like it would have landed just inside the end zone.

Here are some stats to know about this year’s Super Bowl:

The two teams combined for the most offensive yards in any title game by more than 200 yards: 1,151. The Eagles finished with 538 yards, the Patriots with 613.

There was only one sack in the entire evening: it actually doubled as a pivotal fumble recovery by the Eagles late in the fourth quarter. Brandon Graham stripped Brady to set up a Derek Barnett recovery that got Philadelphia closer to scoring.

Out of the Eagles’ ten possessions, only two didn’t result in some type of scoring. Philadelphia QB Nick Foles, who was named the game MVP, recorded 8.7 yards per attempt. The 29-year-old — who replaced Carson Wentz late in the regular season after the former first-round pick suffered an ACL injury — went 28-for-43 for 373 yards, three touchdowns, and a touchdown reception. Brady went 28-for-48 for 505 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions.

There were also four extra-point or two-point conversions that failed.

Philadelphia was rather successful on third-down attempts. The Eagles were 10-of-16, or 63 percent.

Notably benched for New England was cornerback Malcolm Butler, who made the game-ending interception on Russell Wilson’s pass in the end zone in Super Bowl XLIX three years ago that sealed the Patriots’ victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Butler did not get any defensive snaps on Sunday.
