Drew Brees Issues Second Apology For His Remarks On The Flag

On Thursday, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees issued an apology after saying that he would “never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America.” Brees first apologized on Instagram early Thursday morning in a lengthy post. On Thursday evening, Brees issued a second apology, this time in the form of a video.

In the video, Brees said that among other things, “I know there’s not much I can say that would make things better right now, but I just want you to see in my eyes how sorry I am for the comments I made yesterday. I am sorry, and I will do better, and I will be part of the solution, and I am your ally.”

Brees met with his Saints teammates yesterday, apologizing for what he said. Numerous of his teammates including Malcolm Jenkins and Michael Thomas were extremely vocal in what was said by their quarterback. It has been reported that the Saints’ team meeting did not heal all wounds, but it was a step in the right direction.
