Dream’s Angel Reese Stands Up For Coach After Teammates’ All-Star Snub

Angel Reese has never been afraid to speak her mind. This week, she defended her team after the Atlanta Dream were shut out of the 2026 WNBA All-Star starting lineup.

Following the Atlanta Dream’s loss to the Washington Mystics, Reese expressed frustration that none of the Dream’s players—including veteran stars Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray—were selected to the All-Star starting lineup despite the team’s strong season. The Dream entered the week tied for first place in the Eastern Conference, making the snub more surprising around the WNBA.

Reese’s comments echoed the sentiments throughout the locker room as she defended her teammates and coach.

After being acquired from the Chicago Sky before the season, Reese quickly became one of the WNBA’s most productive forwards. She’s averaging a double-double and leads the league in rebounds at 11 per game, helping the Dream become one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Despite those numbers, Reese finished seventh in frontcourt voting, leaving her outside the group of All-Star starters. However, she pointed out that the Dream’s overall lack of recognition was the bigger issue.

Although the All-Star starters have been announced, the Dream remain optimistic that they’ll finish the season strong and that their success will ultimately be recognized.

For Reese, it’s simple: Individual awards matter, but respect for her teammates and coaching staff matters more. The Dream will look to use this as extra motivation for the rest of the season.
