Donovan McNabb Happy But Wary Of Eagles’ Decision To Hire Doug Pederson

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan Mcnabb, the team’s all-time passing leader and the QB with the most wins in franchise history, has expressed concern about his former team’s decision to hire his old teammate Doug Pederson as head coach.

DONOVAN MCNABB HAPPY BUT WARY OF EAGLES’ DECISION TO HIRE DOUG PEDERSON

“Wow,” McNabb said in a phone conversation with N.J. Advance Media. “I’m happy for Doug. I really am. I learned a lot from him back in 1999. I learned the West Coast offense. I learned how to be a professional quarterback.”

McNabb described Pederson as a ‘teacher,’ and added: “But here’s the question can he be a leader of men, and not just the guy in the quarterback room.”

Pederson was an assistant coach for the Eagles in 2009, McNabb’s final year with the team.

The former Philadelphia QB also stated: “Now as an alum, and I think I can say this for a lot of us, what are they trying to do? Are they trying to re-create the 1999-2009 Eagles? Are they trying to relive the past, or do they want someone to come in and set his own legacy. I want to see the Eagles win, but I don’t know if you do that just by bringing guys back who were there.”
