Dodgers Announce World Series Rotation Order Ahead Of Game 1 Vs Astros

The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the Houston Astros on Tuesday night for Game 1 of the World Series, and the host team has announced their pitching rotation for the championship series.

The Dodgers will be playing in their first World Series since 1988 — when they beat the Oakland Athletics — while the Astros will be playing in their first championship series since 2005, when they were in the National League. Houston has never won a national MLB title, while Los Angeles has won six.

Tuesday’s Game 1 will begin at 8 pm EST on FOX. Clayton Kershaw (18-4, 2.31 ERA) will start for the Dodgers after helping his squad end the NLCS with six innings of one-run ball vs. the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. Kershawn owns a 3.63 ERA through 17 1/3 innings this postseason.

Opposing Kershaw will be fellow lefty Dallas Kuechel (14-5, 2.90 ERA), who boasts an incredible 1.78 ERA in his five career playoff starts and went 1-1 in the Astros’ ALCS victory over the Yankees while allowing four runs in 11 1/3 innings. This will mark the 2015 AL Cy Young Award Winner’s first World Series start.

Tuesday’s matchup will also be the first time since 1970 that Game 1 of the World Series is played between two teams that ended the regular season with 100 or more wins.

After Kershaw, the Dodgers will put the following pitchers on the mound: Rich Hill, then Yu Darvish, then Alex Wood. 

Houston has not yet unveiled its rotation order, although it is believed Justin Verlander will follow Kuechel in Game 2.

The Astros beat the Yankees 4-0 at Minute Maid Park in Game 7 on Saturday, while the Dodgers routed the Cubs 11-1 in Game 5 on Thursday.
