The New England Patriots were full of spectacular plays during their game against the Dallas Cowboys yesterday at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. But one of the touchdowns scored by the Patriots was scored in a peculiar but awe-inspiring fashion.
The play happened in the third quarter of the game when the Patriots were in the red zone of Cowboys territory and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw an unsettling pass to running back Dion Lewis. What came next was surprising since he caught the ball with only his right hand, followed by a juked step to get his balance, and running through four Cowboy defenders before heading to the end-zone with a ten-yard touchdown reception. “Just trying to catch the ball and let my instincts take over after that,” Lewis says. “Just trying to make a play, and trying not to get hit.”
Lewis has been a valuable asset to the Patriots offense in showing himself in the rushing and passing games. This has certainly won his respect for not only his teammates but head coach Bill Belichick. “Dion’s been giving us a lot of productive plays, both running and passing,” Belichick said. “Some inside plays, some outside plays, some run-after-catch plays. He’s been doing it for us all year. He’s a hard guy to tackle.”
