Derek Jeter Does Not Miss Baseball

Everyone always hears about the Brett Favres of the world — people who do not know when to call it quits — but rarely does a player like Derek Jeter talk so candidly about how he does not miss the game.

And during an interview with Mad Dog Radio last week, Jeter opened up about his first season away from baseball in over 20 years. “I don’t miss it at all,” he said.

On top of this, he was asked about the AL East race. “I have no clue. I really have not watched,” he responded. Now, this could just be a lie and Jeter could be a really good actor, but does anyone fault the guy for unwinding a bit. To play at the top level for so long, having every inch of your life under a magnifying glass, I would not blame him for getting as far away from the game as possible.

Also, who would want to watch their former team a season removed from the game? That just seems like torture. If I were a millionaire with a great reputation and a super model girlfriend, baseball would be the last thing on my mind. And frankly, after five rings, 14 All-Star games, over 3,000 hits and five gold gloves, the captain can do whatever he wants.
