Ambrose upset Miz, a six-time holder of that title, to capture his second career intercontinental championship. It also marked Ambrose’s fourth title victory since debuting in the WWE in November 2012.

Ambrose’s previous intercontinental championship reign ran from December 2015 through February 2016.

The Miz opened his title reign by defeating Dolph Ziggler on “SmackDown Live” on Nov. 2015.

The Miz is also one of a select group to become a “grand slam” champion, having won the WWE world championship, the Intercontinental championship, the United States championship and one of the WWE tag team championships.

A rematch date has not yet been set.

One week earlier, American Alpha beat The Wyatt Family to win the SmackDown tag team championships.

Ambrose also sent a message after his title win, saying that if you make him mad, he will destroy you and take your title:

Also, for the second consecutive week, WWE did not air a pre-show prior to Raw or SmackDown. In fact, the pre-shows were cut from 30 minutes to 15 minutes a month ago.

Neville vs. Rich Swann is expected for the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view after Neville picked up another win this week on 205 Live. Neville defeated TJ Perkins in the main event to inch one step closer to getting a shot from Swann, who he already defeated in a non-title match.
