The Dallas Mavericks’ new star Anthony Davis played his first game with the team on Saturday, a 116-105 win over the Houston Rockets, after sitting out the first two with an abdominal strain.
Davis posted 26 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists in 31 minutes before exiting the game with a minute and a half left in the third quarter. He was ruled out of Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings later that evening.
Davis, 31, called the injury “nothing serious” after the game.
“Just the leg got tight, like a little spasm,” he said. “Just came back and tried to get it loose and everything. Obviously, dealing with the ab strain still, so just tried to get it loose. It wouldn’t really loosen up and let go, but it’s nothing serious. I’m fine.”

Davis will reportedly be out for as long as a month with an adductor strain. His exit coincides with the return of his trade partner, Luka Doncic, who will play his first game for the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
The rest of the Mavericks have also suffered bad injury luck, with key injuries to P.J. Washington, Max Christie and Dante Exum. They’ll need their secondary stars – Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson – to step up as they face the Kings tonight and the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.
