Ravens head of security Darren Sanders has been summoned to court on charges of a fourth-degree sexual offense, a crime punishable by a year in jail, a $1,000 fine or both.
According to TMZ Sports, who obtained a copy of the police report, the charges were filed by a “woman who claimed she was working at the stadium on December 14th… and [during the Browns Ravens game] was asked to escort Sanders to another part of the building.” The report further stated “[Sanders allegedly] hit and/or groped her buttocks more than once as they walked down the third level hallway… [and] pressed his body against her’s and kissed her neck and attempted to force her to grab his penis.” Allegedly, there was a witness who saw a part of the interaction.
Andrew Alperstein, Sanders’ attorney, claimed the accusations are “totally fabricated, made up… It does a disservice to real victims when people make things up like this.” As for the hurting Baltimore Ravens organization, team spokesman Kevin Byrne told the Baltimore Sun, “We are aware of the situation and have been investigating thoroughly.” At the moment, Sanders is on a paid leave and will not travel with the team for their wild card match-up against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
